BEEWEAVER BREED

  • BeeWeaver honeybees are hardy, productive, mite tolerant and virus resistant stock.
  • BeeWeaver honeybees respond quickly to pollen and nectar resource changes, which means quick growth in the spring, big honey crops, and low winter mortality.
  • BeeWeaver bees thrive in a variety of environmental conditions and climates, and with little need for extensive management interventions often required by other bees.
  • BeeWeaver honeybees will not succumb to Varroa mite infestation or honey bee virus infections. In fact, there is no need to apply chemical treatments to suppress Varroa destructor infestation in hives headed by Bee Weaver queens.
  • BeeWeaver colonies will build strong populations, produce big honey crops and naturally minimize Varroa mite population growth.
  • BeeWeaver honeybees detect and eliminate infested pupae - killing subsequent generations of immature mites in the process.
  • BeeWeaver bees also groom each other and chew mites in the process, leaving mites damaged, susceptible to desiccation or dead.
  • BeeWeaver bees also mount a distinct immunological response to viral challenge, enabling them to resist infection by several deadly viruses that Varroa mites vector.
  • BeeWeaver bees increase the expression of some immune genes and reduce the expression of others in response to viral pathogens. The genes upregulated in Bee Weaver bees exposed to viruses are usually downregulated in other strains, and the immune genes downregulated in Bee Weaver bees infected by viruses are usually upregulated in other strains exposed to viruses

    Happy year after year

Posted by Becky on 20th Jul 2018

I've been getting queens from BeeWeaver for 5 seasons now. Packages in 2014 (the last year UPS rules allowed liquid feed in shipped packages), queens since. I raise some of my own later in the season (all BW descendants) but I'm sold on getting my early queens for splits and sale nucs from these folks. When needed, customer service has been fantastic.

    Very Happy

Posted by Frederick Dunn on 17th Nov 2017

I have been studying, videoing, and photographing honey bee behavior for the past ten+ years.

As I established my own observation apiary, I decided to use weaver queens as they were at the top of my list for survivor/hygienic traits. They have performed beautifully without treatments here in the northeastern United States. I have been inspected by our State Bee Inspector several times and he was always extremely interested in my very VERY low mite counts and what I was doing? Weaver bees and simple apiary management without chemical intervention. Results? 1 varroa mite showed up after the inspector did sugar shakes on seven colonies. Remarkable and repeatable results.

I now have an observation hive for video productions that document honey bee behavior inside the hive and the grooming practices of these honey bees as they comb through the hive and groom each other. If they suspect there is a problem, even inside a capped brood cell, they remove the cap and clean out the cell and occupant.

If one is attempting to use a truly sustainable line of bees, for me, this is the best choice. I'm back for a pre-order of weaver queens for 2018 so that we can continue to expand, observe and learn. I have no reservations about recommending these bees, and if you already have colonies, I definitely endorse re-queening with the weaver line.

    Amazing customer service

Posted by Dawn on 10th Aug 2017

So we ordered a queen late on the eighth in a desperate attempt to save a hive.  We called on the 9th just to make sure it would go out and it did!  We got her a day early and we are now looking forward to introducing her.  Fingers crossed that we are successful!   Thanks for the great customer service and helping making it possible to save the hive!

Great looking Queens, thanks so much!

Posted by Fritz on 13th May 2017

Ordered queens to make splits. Shipped thru USPS. They all arrived in perfect shape. The tracking feature worked great, making it very easy to time out pulling frames. The queens went straight from the Post Office to the Nucs! Everything worked out great on these splits. For once it all went by the book perfect. Hope the bees read the book, lol. Thanks so much!!
